Heavier paper slows heat transfer. A 280gsm single wall cup feels noticeably cooler than 200gsm, but still warmer than double wall.

Q:What paper is used for coffee cups?
A: Most hot coffee cups use food-grade virgin paperboard with PE, PLA, or water-based coating to prevent leakage and maintain cup strength. We use Sun Paper virgin board for all our cups.
Q:What is the difference between hot cups and cold cups?
A: Hot cups use thicker paperboard and are designed to withstand temperatures up to approximately 100°C. Cold cups focus more on condensation resistance and typically use different paper weights and coatings - often double PE lined to prevent sweating.
Q:Double wall vs ripple wall - which keeps coffee hot longer?
A: Both insulate well. Double wall traps heat in an air gap. Ripple wall uses corrugated paper to create air pockets. In practice, ripple wall often feels cooler to hold, but double wall tends to retain heat slightly longer inside the cup. Choose double wall for heat retention, ripple wall for grip and feel.
Q:Can I use single wall cups for delivery without a sleeve?
A: Only if you use 280–300 gsm paper. Thicker single wall cups are noticeably cooler than 200gsm. For delivery longer than 10 minutes, we still recommend double wall or a sleeve.
Q:What is the standard coffee cup size for cafes?
A: Most cafes stock 8oz, 12oz, and 16oz. 8oz for flat white / small, 12oz for regular latte, 16oz for large. We can supply all three in the same order.
