The Hazards Of Plastic Cups

Plastic cups are a widely used material, especially in the manufacture of baby bottles, space cups, and more. In recent years, milk bottles have been controversial due to the presence of bisphenol A. Experts point out that theoretically, as long as bisphenol A is 100% converted into plastic structure during the production of plastic cups, it means that the product is completely free of bisphenol A, let alone released. However, if a small amount of bisphenol A is not converted into the plastic structure of the plastic cup, it may be released and enter food or beverages. The residual bisphenol A in plastic cups is released more and faster at higher temperatures. Therefore, PC water bottles should not be used to hold hot water. If there are any falls or damages to the container, it is recommended to stop using it, as fine pits on the surface of plastic products can easily harbor bacteria. Avoid repeatedly using aged plastic utensils.

Plastic cups not only release some chemicals when heated, but are also highly susceptible to bacterial growth. Although the surface of plastic appears smooth, there are actually many gaps that can easily accumulate dirt and grime. In the office, people mostly only rinse the cups with clean water, and the cups cannot be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. Experts suggest that it is best to use stainless steel cups or glass cups in the office, clean them daily, use detergent, and rinse with hot water.

In addition, cups are affected by static electricity from computers, computer cases, etc., which can absorb more dust, bacteria, and germs, and over time can affect health. For this reason, Lu Jianguo, Director of the Comprehensive Inspection Department of the National Household Appliance Quality Supervision and Inspection Center of the China Household Appliance Research Institute, suggested that it is best to equip the cup with a lid and not to get close to computers and other electrical appliances. Indoor air circulation should also be maintained, windows should be opened for ventilation, and dust should be carried away with the wind.

The preferred choice for drinking water is a glass cup. Don't think that glass cups are just transparent and beautiful, among all materials of cups, glass cups are the healthiest.

Glass cups do not contain organic chemicals during the firing process. When people drink water or other beverages from glass cups, they do not have to worry about chemicals being ingested. Moreover, the surface of the glass is smooth and easy to clean, and bacteria and dirt are not easy to breed on the glass wall. Therefore, drinking water from glass cups is the healthiest and safest way for people.

In addition, experts also advocate the use of enamel cups, because enamel cups are made by high-temperature enamel treatment at thousands of degrees Celsius, without harmful substances such as lead, and can be used with confidence.

Colorful ceramic cups are very pleasing, but in reality, there are huge hidden dangers in those bright pigments, especially when the inner wall is coated with glaze. When the cup is filled with boiling water or drinks with high acidity or alkalinity, toxic heavy metal elements such as lead in these pigments are easily dissolved in the liquid. Drinking liquids containing chemicals can cause harm to the human body. Plasticizers are often added to plastics, which contain some toxic chemicals. When using plastic cups to hold hot or boiled water, the toxic chemicals are easily diluted into the water. Moreover, the internal microstructure of plastics has many pores, which hide dirt and can easily breed bacteria if not cleaned thoroughly. So, experts remind that when choosing plastic cups, it is necessary to choose water cups made of food grade plastic that meet national standards.
